So do I get the new one even though my support contract has expired?

Dave,

Unfortunately, according to our rules you cannot get new versions of the control =(
Anyway you can always renew you license with 50% discount.

You're not actually serious are you? I need an updated version of the control that doesn't have this bug. I'd like the new version.

Yes, for every license we provide software updates/upgrades/techsupport for a limited time (except lifetime license). Every customer has time to develop application, and if he gets any questions/issues during this period then we must  resolve them. All domain-based licenses provide one month period, all developer-based licenses provide one year period, lifetime license does not limit developers in receiving support/updates. This doesn't look smth extraordinary.

This is pathetic. You sent a note to me that says 'thx for all your help' and when I ask for an updated version of the control THAT HAS A GODDAMN BUG IN IT you say 'oh, so sorry, that will be $x'.

It's a shame when a company takes advantage of their own customers. I helped you fix your control and then you attempted to charge me for the privilege. I hope other users of this forum take note of this. Now you've succeeded in taking someone who thought your product was good to someone who will recommend against going with your solution.

I'm very dissapointed. I have a policy too. My policy is to go elsewhere when treated this way.

Look, if you have licensed updates period, you get updates. If you do not have, then you cannot get updates.
We do not have a special policy for those who found a bug. We just provide control and its updates for a certain period of time according to license type, that's very very simple.
Yes, I thanked you for helping to find the issue. And can thank you again. It doesn't really matter whether you have license or you are using trial. I didn't really care whether you updates period expired or not. We always accept bugs, help solving issues, answer technical questions related to treeview for ALL users (trial, customers and those whose support period already expired). We can be proud of how our support goes.

I have to agree the support here has been excellent.  It's unfortunate when polocy makes people feel bad and unfortunate that an exception can't be made; however, that's a business decision and these guys are running a business after all.  I wish they weren't, that way the control would have been free.
