I know you are going to provide some cell merging options in the 2.0 version.

i want to know if the next thing will be possible:

I want to be able to do this not only in grouping mode.
i want to be able to freely merge cells without merging the columns.

By the way, when r u planing to publish the 2.0 version?

We'll have bands feature in FlyGrid 2, so it will be possible to create banded views of a single row.

This not quite the same feature as you need (merging). But may be something of the sort and can be useful in your case.
